US Soccer is switching from calendar-year to school-year age groups — starting Fall 2026. Here's everything you need to know.
US Soccer is moving from calendar-year age groups to school-year age groups (Aug 1 – Jul 31). This aligns soccer with how kids naturally group together in school, keeping friends and classmates on the same teams.
All players — current members and newcomers — will register for tryouts under the new school-year age groups. Coaches will individually assess each player to ensure the best fit for their development.
Our leadership and coaches are committed to keeping families informed every step of the way. Players affected by the transition will receive direct, personal communication from our staff.
Every player will be individually evaluated for the opportunity to "Play Up" to an older age group if their development supports it. This decision is based on clear criteria and communicated directly with the family — we want every player in the environment where they can truly thrive.
